Blogger Challenge #59

Whew!! I made it.....before midnight!!! I've had a busy day watching my nieces and nephew. I missed last week's challenge due to my attending Convention. So, I am so happy to finally participate in this week's Bloggers Challenge.

This week's challenge was to create two cards using the same layout. BUT....the colors and stamp set needed to be different.

The first card uses the current In Colors (well, until Sunday anyway....then they retire for good). The base card is Blue Bayou with accents of Wild Wasabi and So Saffron. I used one of my favorite "guy" background stamps. It's called Flannel Plaid, and sadly it is retiring on Sunday as well.

Recipe
stamp sets: Wild About You, Flannel Plaid, Polka Dot
ink: Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Versamark
paper: Blue Bayou, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
accessories: Circle Punches (scallop circle, 1 3/8"), Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon (sold out), Crafter's Tool Kit, white eyelets, sponges

The second card uses some new goodies from the Fall & Winter 2008 Idea Book and Catalog. Once again, I am using an In Color for the base card. This new color is called Pacific Point. I used my Classic Stars jumbo wheel and Pacific Point ink to decorate the base card.

The stamp set is the new Ronald McDonald House set. It's called Say it with Scallops. Isn't it adorable? Even better, for every stamp set ordered, Stampin' Up! donates $2 to this very worthwhile cause!!!!

I inked up the stamp with Real Red ink, used a cotton swab to remove the ink from the star, inked it up with a So Saffron marker, huffed and stamped. I also added some dot work with the So Saffron marker.

recipe
stamps: Say it With Scallops, Classic Stars jumbo wheel
ink: Pacific Point, Real Red, So Saffron
paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, So Saffron, Whisper White
accessories: square punches (1 1/4", 1 3/8"), Real Red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, Crafter's Tool Kit, staple

These are delightful Patti. I thin it's really neat that you chose retiring In Colors for one card and the new ones for the other. Love the booglie eyes on the Gator!
The stars make your bottom card so festive. Great job...and you made it in time!

I like the idea of the one being former colors and a retired stamp (love Flannel Plaid...why oh why must it go?) and the other being all new! Both are just wonderful, Patty!!! So glad I go to meet you in person!!!

Great job with your cards Patti. I love that cute little alligator and yep I'm sad too about Flannel Plaid retiring.
Love your layout and your 2nd card is so cheery and bright.
