My Turn to Take a Challenge

Everyone loves a good challenge!! Yesterday, I challenged my blog readers to use patterned paper on their cards. Today I took someone else's challenge. Beate Johns always posts a weekend sketch challenge. I often do not get a chance to play, but today I did!!

Once again, I found myself drawn to some of my new patterned paper. As I was looking at the different patterns in the Bali Breeze pack, I was drawn to this geometric pattern. Now, to find a stamp set to use with it. I knew the rocket from Pun Fun would look amazing so I got down to business.

I pulled out my watercolor paper and stamped the image with Black StazOn. I used the colors from the patterned paper for my focal image. Coloring is easy and vibrant when using my reinkers and aquapainter. After the image dried, I sponged the edges with Pumpkin Pie ink. The focal image was then mounted on a piece of Rose Red cardstock.

The base card is Taken with Teal. Following the sketch, I added a layer of the geometic paper matted on a layer of Pumpkin Pie. I added some 1/2" circle punches with Old Olive brads in the center and a sentiment all using Rose Red to pull the card together.

A few touches of that fabulous Old Olive Polytwill ribbon was all that was needed to finish off the card.
I'm off to the mall with my friend Kim, her daughter and my lovely DD. We're on the quest for decent fitting jeans.....see ya in a month!!!
